Step 2: Sort Into Categories
Make piles so you can see what you actually own:
👕 Clothes • 💻 Electronics • 📚 Books • 🧸 Toys • 🧾 Papers
Step 3: Put Back Only What Belongs
Keep what you need, use, or love.
Everything else? Set aside.
Remember: everything has a home.
Step 4: Re-home the Rest
Move piles to the correct place in your house.
If something doesn’t have a “home,” that’s your signal it might need to go or haven't used in the last 3-6 months. It can't be that important. It's okay. If you reallllly NEED it down the road, buy it again. Give it to someone who needs it now.
Step 5: Release the Extras
Donate, recycle, or responsibly discard what no longer serves you.
Less clutter = more clarity.
✨ Habit Stacking Hack
Pair decluttering with something you already do:
🎬 Put on your favorite show or movie.
🎶 Play a podcast or something that keeps you moving.
📺 Or even let the background noise of the news/government “updates” roll while you work (if you enjoy multitasking).
➡️ The trick: attach the new habit (decluttering) to an old habit (watching, listening, or background noise). It makes the process feel less like a chore and more like part of your normal routine. Light a candle. Nice smelling spray and give the room a treat. We all like treats.
